Two mayors attend Mabel's 105th birthday | Channel 39 News
When you’re celebrating a life that exceeds 10 decades, you shouldn’t be surprised that so many friends show up for cake. But American House Jackson resident Mabel Womack was clearly mystified by all the fuss. Sporting a tiara and corsage, the Mississippi native said, “I thought there’d be a half dozen people here, and there must be many more than that!”
Over 70 friends, old and new, showed up to celebrate Mabel’s vibrant life. Jackson Mayor Scott Conger and Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey were on hand to declare August 22, “Mabel Womack Day.”
After earning her degree from Lambuth College, Mabel became a teacher, married the son of Lambuth’s first president and spent many happy years traveling to over 70 countries.
Mabel is often asked, “What is your secret for living 105 years?” Find out the answer here in this story covered by Steve Beverly of Jackson’s Channel 39 News.
Happy birthday, Mabel!
