Fitwel Certification: Demonstrating our commitment to the health and wellness of our residents and team members.

With our residents’ happiness and well-being our top priority, American House St. Petersburg has committed to creating a healthy environment and positive experience for those we serve and those in our employ. Which is why our community has embarked on a process called Fitwel® Certification. Developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the General Services Administration (GSA), Fitwel is an ongoing, evidence-based global building certification program which optimizes occupant health and well-being through improvements to building design and operations.

Excellence is Our Benchmark

Because it was designed with our residents’ and employees’ physical, mental and social health in mind, American House St. Petersburg was already a great benchmark for Fitwel certification. Our high standards were evident in our initial review and, while some necessary adjustments were made prior to submission, the community was poised to meet the criteria. As a result, American House has entered the program having achieved a Fitwel 1 Star Rating. As we work through the program in the coming months and years, and as new evidence comes to light, American House St. Petersburg will continue to meet the challenge, attaining higher ratings and making our community a healthy, happy place for our residents.

Why We Excel

The quality care we offer at American House is grounded in our Life Enrichment, Wellness and Culinary programs. We pride ourselves on the positive outcomes of our festive events, individualized wellness programming, engaging and interesting activities and our nutritious, chef-prepared meals. These standards, combined with our commitment to our team members and our philosophy of Living Well is Being Well, provided a solid foundation that enabled us to meet the submission criteria required to achieve our Fitwel 1 Star Rating.
