Whether
you’re fully
independent
or need some
assistance…
American
House is a
better way
to live.
American House communities provide independent apartment living for seniors, as well as available living assistance and professional wellness support if and when desired. Thus, the American House lifestyle is as independent and private as you'd like it to be; you can enjoy the privacy of your own apartment, kitchen, and being out and about in your car ... or take advantage of the social opportunities available, with friends, activities, special events and outings that are available if you choose. Available support services include housekeeping, dining, and laundry to healthcare support ranging from bathing and dressing assistance, to physical therapy and visits from doctors and dentists, to the Memory Care Unit at our Regent Street location.
To help in your decision-making process, here is an overview of where American House options fit in the continuum of senior living choices:
Independent Living | American House living is built on a foundation of retirement independence: Your own private apartment with your own bedroom, bath, living space, and many with kitchens. Many residents drive their own cars, cook some of their own meals, and even have pets. Yet moving into American House also means available restaurant-style dining, new friends, social activities, outings, transportation, and the peace of mind of 24-hour staffed safety and security.
Available Living Assistance | Living at American House also means you have an array of living assistance available to you, if and when you want (or need) it. These living assistance services range from medication reminders, bathing and dressing assistance, and mobility assistance to services provided by visiting physicians, podiatrists, dentists, and many other medical support services, including Physical Therapy. Some of these services are provided by trained American House staff caregivers, while others are available to our residents on-site through approved third-party professional resources.
Respite Care/Short Stays | Seniors can come stay at American House for just a couple of days if they like, either to sample American House living or to have an enjoyable, secure place to stay in a private apartment while family caregivers go on vacation or need a respite from caregiving for a short period for other reasons, such as surgical recovery.
Memory Care | Specialized residential care for seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other dementia- and memory-related conditions is available to families at our dedicated, state-of-the-art Memory Care Unit at our American House Regent Street location in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Also offering independent living, Regent Street is a "continuing care community," able to provide a progressive continuum of care in one senior residence from fully independent living, on to assisted living, and beyond to encompass dementia care.
Beyond American House | Skilled Nursing Care Facilities provide a level of care typically beyond the American House lifestyle; often referred to generally as a "nursing home" environment, skilled nursing care facilities are for those who require the ongoing services of registered nurses and other medical professionals, for treatment and procedures often required by chronic and/or sub-acute illness. American House has many relationships with superb nursing care facilities to connect our senior residents with these resources as needed.
